For one, he has three Umbra polatities for each of the three Umbral mods. Secondly, these polarities are UNIQUE. In that we can't forma them onto a warframe. Which is the whole issue. To make Umbra the Warframe I want, I need to remove these Umbra polarities. But once I remove these Umbra polarities, I can't ever get them back.

Umbra Fiber (armor isn't that great anymore) can be subtitute with Archon Shard. The same goes for Umbra Vitality, and most player just use Archon Vitality. Put it onto a Prime frame of your smart choice, most preferably your main/favorite, that uses at least 2 out of the 3: armor, health and/or power strength. You have to commit 2-3 umbra forma on that frame to fully utilize the umbra mods. Do not put it on melee weapons, unless you really love those weapons.Urlan. Umbra Forma is mostly used for other Frames to properly fit those Umbra Mods onto your Builds. Excal umbra is a separate warframe. You can use umbra forma on any frame, so as long as you have max rank on excalibut, you should be able to do it. Also, don’t use that umbra forma on Excalibur umbra when you get him.
They need to have a reasonable amount of base armor to start with, and not be better served by other mods. There's only a handful of frames its really good on that have the base armor and health to make it worthwhile. Baruuk, Chroma, Ember, Grendel, Khora, Inaros, Lavos, Nezha, Nidus, Oberon, Saryn, Valkyr are prime candidates.

You have to complete about 60% of all challenges in 10 weeks to get all rewards. there are weekly challenges, do ~60% of them and daily challenges too and you should reach lvl 30 by the end of it (stated by Steve Sinclair, game director). People use Umbra forma on K-drives and Kavats, they sadly aren't that big of a deal since most of the time you can mod around it and still get a pretty decent build. The only way they'd have more value is if Primaries and secondaries got sacrificial mods as they have more limited capacity (with the exception of Kuva weapons)
