The first build I'm considering is a high intelligence chemical pistol build and the second build I'm considering is a melee (probably fist weapons) psi build. Feel free to throw in other builds you found especially fun, pretty much just looking for something new. (Last two builds were pure SMG and a sniper with though control).

All perception checks, all persuasion checks, all agility checks, and all relevant mercantile checks. Plus all the crafting checks. Really depends on your build and what you are going against. Anti-rifle will make you functionally immune to lower calibers and weaker melee but you basically trade out all of your movement points. Riot and Tactical vests give much better mobility, with riot being better for melee and tac being better for ranged weapons.

The perfect sledgehammer build imo is a tichrome sledgehammer (22ap) + belt (-5ap) + tabi boots (-1ap) = 16ap per hit. Bear in mind that if you're going heavy armor melee, you're going to need sprint and tabi. Armor penalty is going to eat up all your movement points and you'll struggle to get into melee range quickly.

Shotguns are fun to play, but a) you want some back up weapon because they have short range, and b) you won't start out with one, so at level 1 you will be fighting with a pistol. In Underrail, Age of Decadence, and maybe even Expeditions: Vikings, along with a slew of other games, when a person hits a bump in those games and asks around for help a common response is "Oh, you just need the right build." Is this a snag on RPGs or is it a feature?
