Well unless there's an issue with the subtitle format, the Shield pretty much DP's everything I play at home, including 4K remuxes, flawlessly. I'm on a 200/200 wired connection. Remotely it's obviously going to depend on network speed and your client. I'm not sure how many direct streams it can handle, but certainly more than 3.
Do you want to monitor the amount of streams and simulate a keypress to keep it from sleeping until the number of streams is 0? The Plex api can return the amount of streams active (get_activity). A simple script or .net application could do this. Internally, Plex uses the channel number for the EPG assignment and the same EPG data cannot be assigned to several Steams. Running Plex on Windows 10, have been running it for 6+ years. Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, Ombi, Tautulli, Sabnzb. 30+ users, I have had 9 people streaming at the same time. ATT Fiber. Personally, I have seen the platform get more and more stable with each upgrade as time goes on - especially in the past 2 years. IMHO - Don't blame the software.

Killing streams is a Plex Pass only feature. So these scripts will only work for Plex Pass users. The scripts are setup in Tautuli as a new notification agent.
