Factorio steam turbine.

I am trying to create an assembly machine that looks like the steam-turbine and animates when it crafts. The assembly is supposed to have one steam input and one water output, crafting steam back into water (and animating and making smoke like the steam turbine in the process).

This is my modular nuclear power plant from my Vanilla lets play series on YouTube. 4 Reactors / 48 Heat Exchangers / 84 Steam Turbines. 480 MW. Storage of excess steam (750k storage)4 reactors, 48 HX, 61.8 Condenser Turbines. A 2x2 reactor makes 480MW of heat. This supports 48 HX to make 4944 total steam per second. This supports 61.8 Condenser Turbines to make total 359.68MW of power. I would however round DOWN to 60 or 61 condensers so that the plant can operate at 100% load. A single water pump can support many ...Your factory isn't consuming their max power. Build more factory :P. Steam engines will consume only as much steam as they need to in order to power all your machines. Right now all your machines combined only need 10.9 …1.0.3 (2 years ago) Factorio version: 1.1. Downloaded by: 1.61K users. This mod attempts to add another tier of non-solar power generation, between steam engines and nuclear reactors. It does this by introducing turbines earlier, and adding three new types of boiler: Superheater: takes 165°C steam as input, and consumes 1.8 MW to heat it to ...astrosha Aug 10, 2021 @ 6:14pm. 480 MW heat, divided by 5.82 MW per Steam Turbine yields about 83 Steam Turbines. Since each one uses 60 Steam, this means you need to supply call it 4948 Steam/second. With each Heat Exchanger providing 103 Steam/second, this means you need about 48 Heat Exchangers.

The steam turbine converts steam heat energy into mechanical energy. The mechanical energy is then converted into electric power by the generator. Boiler Turbine Generator. Steam from the boiler enters the high-pressure cylinder of a condensing turbine and, after passing through it, returns to the boiler via an intermediate superheater in a ...A turbine directly turns the magnet with out the need of a fly wheel. Kinetic Steam> Kinetic Flywheel > Electricity Kinetic steam> Kinetic turbine > Electricity A turbine is probably much more efficient than a engine at generating electricity, but we still use engines because they're good at generating momentum required for trains and cars.Steam Turbines are meant to work on 500 degree steam, otherwise they will not work at full performance. Regular boilers only create 165 degree steam. You need a nuclear reactor and heat exchangers to make steam for the turbines. When using boilers, just use regular engines. TrueXPixels • 6 yr. ago.

The boilers will only consume fuel at a rate proportional to that at which the steam engines consume steam. The latter depends on your power draw. You will therefore burn the same amount of fuel in either setup, and cause the same amount of pollution. The exception here is a nuclear reactor, which always runs ...May 25, 2017 · A turbine can work with steam from boilers, but it can consume at most 60/s. Because steam from boilers has a much lower temperature (and therefor has less energy), the turbine can produce at most 1.8 MW of electricity from that steam instead of the 5.8 MW it is at most capable of. Change steam turbine priority to primary (to keep steam engines from running)

Each of those pipes then gets connected to 20 steam turbines. Use underground pipes whenever possible. Each pipe tile the steam needs to flow thru will slow it down. Underground pipes count as just two pipe tiles for this purpose, but they can reach up to 11 tiles (saves you 9 pipe tiles in terms of fluid flow).

Like the other person said, electric boilers are inefficient, so steam turbines aren't viable to handle your base load until you unlock nuclear. If you want a more compact power plant to replace your steam engines in the meantime, K2 adds a gas power station that can run on either petroleum gas or biomethanol. 8. Lynwalk • 10 mo. ago.

The same wording was used by the boiler back in factorio 0.15 when it had 50% efficiency, u had to input 3.6mw for 1.8mw of steam. And similar wording is with reactors. 10mw is the absolute cap of the building. Some mods change energy rules. Vanilla rule is 200J per 1C of steam above 15C. This means 60 units of 500C is ( (500-15) * 60 * 200J ... Steam engines are the most basic electricity generator, available to the player at the start of the game. They produce electricity by consuming …This blueprint book contains a tileable column based nuclear power system. It contains 2 layouts both based on the same core reactor layout. (4 * 10MW) so that you can efficiently convert the heat output into steam. You connect these to at most 6 steam turbine at 5.8 MW each (6 * 5.8 = 34.8 MW) + some steam engine to take rest of the …Re: Boilers "Output Full". Steam based power (engines and turbines) only consumes steam when generating electricity. If the power grid they're connected to has no demand, then it won't produce power. if you drop an inserter next to one of the power poles, you'll see the engine start running (slowly) due to the idle power cost of the inserter.Factorio physics (tm) don't allow Steam to condense, so a tank of steam is a tank of steam until the steam is used up. Using an array of pump-connected steam tanks (normal liquid storage tanks, used for oil, water, gas, etc), you can store the heated output of your nuclear powered boilers, and use that to drive your turbines to create power.Steam is a gas created by heating water in a boiler or heat exchanger. After being distributed via pipes, steam can be used to generate electricity via steam engines and steam turbines. Steam is also used in coal liquefaction in oil refineries. Since steam is a fluid, it can be stored in a storage tank.

Re: Nuclear power and Steam Turbines. by Tekky » Sat May 06, 2017 3:19 pm. Yes, it does provide an incentive to use circuit networks. But so would giving solar power the same priority as steam engine power. Since the Factorio developers have decided to automatically give solar power priority over steam engine power, so that the …It could be that the fluid in the condenser cant go anwhere. Your tank is connected both to the water line from the boiler and to the steam line from the turbine. It went with whichever liquid showed up first, which was water. You’ll need to delete the tank and connect it to only one type of input or output. One offshore pump produces 1200 water/s and a turbine consumes 60 steam/s. So 1 pump, 12 heat exchangers and 20 turbines work very well. For large scale plants with a long double row of reactors you can place these in a single row One heat exchanger consumes 10MW. That tells you the reactor : exchanger ratio.I also have dozens of old fashioned steam engines running, maybe 80 steam engines. I'm only producing a total of 320mw right now and I'm in the yellow. I don't see why just the 4 nukes aren't making enough to stay in the green. I look at my steam turbines and they currently running that well. Maybe only 7 of them are actually spewing steam.Try using beacons and modules. You'll need a lot of power and thousands of steam turbines (plus other nuclear reactor stuff) to get it. And designing expandable modular nuclear plant is fun. Only one single centrifuge running kovarex enrichment can provide u235 to make fuel for ~340 reactors (with 9-10k turbines).

If a Turbine running from a boiler creates the same amount of energy as two steam engines running from a single boiler is it advantages to use a single turbine on a single boiler instead of two steam engines on a single boiler? Same power output, so really it's just about the material investment, and whether you're going to switch to nuclear ... Space Exploration Condenser Turbine. Requests water barrels and fuel cells. A pump limits input water to 1k, so it does not overload with return water. Only the first assembler requesting water is required, it can feed a bunch of reactors. To calculate how many steam engines worth of coal a fast belt can support, you may use the following formula: 8000 KW (Fuel value) * 0.5 (Boiler efficiency) * 26.67 items/s (Fast belt throughput) / 900 KW (Steam engine output) = ~118.53 engines. As discussed on page 14 of this thread, the number aesthetics and tiny increase in energy production ...Accumulators can be connected to the circuit network. They send a signal of your choosing, by default 'A'. This signal represents the percentage of power left in the accumulator. In this way you can use a power switch to read when the accumulator falls below a certain % (in my case 30%) before turning on your steam engines. The game seems to ... Like the other person said, electric boilers are inefficient, so steam turbines aren't viable to handle your base load until you unlock nuclear. If you want a more compact power plant to replace your steam engines in the meantime, K2 adds a gas power station that can run on either petroleum gas or biomethanol. 8. Lynwalk • 10 mo. ago.Not if the steam being provided is the same amount. Turbines can eat up twice as much steam than an engine can. So sure, you could replace all your engines in a typical 1:20:40 setup. But the second turbine in each boiler pair will be starved of steam under full load, since all of the boiler steam is eaten up by the first one.Steam turbine can consume steam at a very high pressures, but steam engine is limited to fairly low pressures (otherwise it explodes). So it makes best sense if steam engines would consume less steam if it's overheated to produce same amount of power, still capping at 900 kW output. To explain briefly - if you see not max power output while the steam generator has max steam then this is normal. This just means that your factory isnt consuming as much power as the steam generators are capable of producing. If your factory isnt getting enough power, then this just means that you are missing a power pole somewhere.Accumulators give off a circuit network signal. You can wire them to a power switch to isolate your steam engines as long as demand is being met elsewhere. If the accumulator falls below a threshold, toggle the engines back on. Look up how to make an SR latch (aka a memory toggle) with combinators.Steam Engines & Steam Turbines Accumulators If solar completely satisfies electrical draw, then your nuclear setup (which presumably uses turbines) will not turn on as solar has the highest priority. Otherwise solar will take on the brunt of the load and your steam engines and turbines will pickup the slack.Steam is cookie-cuts easily, but probably won't take you too far. Great starter power but it eventually becomes a pain routing enough fuel. Nuclear is king on the "coolness" factor. It's also complex, expensive, stupendously powerful, and super compact. Solar, while costly, requires ZERO maintenance once deployed.Space Exploration Condenser Turbine. Requests water barrels and fuel cells. It takes nuclear power plant to consume one fuel cell each 200 seconds regardless of the heat level. The wiki says it takes ~4.85 of GJ energy to spin from 15 degree to 500 degree and start generating heat at that point. So for a single nuclear power plant without neighbor bonus it would take at least ~121.25 seconds.

The heat pipe can transport heat over longer distances and connect devices which produce and use heat. Currently this is limited to heat exchangers and nuclear reactors.. Heat pipes have a heat capacity of 1 MJ/°C. Thus, they can theoretically buffer 500 MJ of heat energy across their working range of 500°C to 1000°C, making them a space-efficient energy store.

7 steam turbines between pumps: 3000 fluid/s . Steam turbines also consume fluid as it flows thru them. So all the steam doesn't need to flow all the way to the last turbine while they are in operation. This means you can feed steam for up to 48 turbines from just one pump (turbines need to be connected directly to each other, no pipes!)Nuclear is expensive at first but way cheaper than solar at large scales. Solar is good at small scales in the early game (small amounts of clean power) and massive scales in the super late game (best for UPS). Depends on what you are doing. Speedrunning, stick to coal. Upgrading to anything else will take too much time.Hello, Over half of my steam turbines are not working. They say no input fluid even though I have steam flowing to them. I have read on other forums that they will only run if they are needed, but I am running on low power meaning they are indeed needed.Mar 13, 2023 · Turbines consume steam and output electricity. Space Exploration adds the Condenser Turbine and the High-Temperature Turbine Generator. The Condenser Turbine is similar in function to the Steam Turbine. However, rather than consuming 500 C at 60 steam / second, it instead consumes 80 steam / second while outputting the same amount of power. Steam Community: Factorio. This looks FUN! Interesting change. #3.One of the challenges of nuclear is water supply and this is negated in power stations by condensing the steam after use and putting it back towards the heat exchangers. I think this would make for an interesting design challenge to route pipes and get extra hardware into the nuclear layout. The turbine would consume steam, generate power and ...There's a bit of confusion here. Steam engines and Steam turbines are similar, but generate power differently depending on two factors: The temperature of the steam, and the amount of steam absorbed. First, I will talk about the steam absorbed. Steam Engines suck in at most 30 steam per second.
