If you have the issue the contacts on the shifter position sensor are pitted and corroded from the high voltage surge. The exact switch GM uses is $2.71, but GM sells if for $429. It takes 20,000 to 40,000 miles before the switch will fail. And it will fail again unless the voltage sure components, ($0.75) are installed.

Well if you can confirm that all 3 things happen simultaneously, i.e. first door wont unlock, then car wont start, with the "No Remote Detected" message appearing, the problem is very likely the FOB.

The actual key fob has a passive transponder in it - most car keys have had them for a couple decades now or so. There is a detector in the key slot. No transponder, no go. Jul 14, 2020 · Car is a 2012 with about 87k on it, which I bought used last September. Unfortunately, the Voltec warranty expired from age in November. This is our second 2012, as my wife has had one since 2018, only issue on that one being the common drive unit end bearing failure, which was fixed under the Voltec warranty.
