Doctoral Degrees and Requirements. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees are offered in all of our six departments, and they are administered by the University of Michigan's Rackham Graduate School. These programs usually take six terms of study beyond a master's degree. They include original research, which culminates in a dissertation.
The total tuition to complete your MPH degree remains the same. Students completing the program in 3 semesters (16 months) will register for three full-time semesters.
