Baffle strikes.

Had my first ever baffle strike, yesterday at the range. Not sure what has caused it yet, as the can really wasn't all that hot and (Was close to touchable without a glove) and the round seemed to take a tumble early. From a cursory glance, due to angles and lack of tools to look inside, there are about 6 baffles that have been hit in some way.Had a baffle strike last week while shooting my Bergara B-14 HMR with my AAC 7.62 SD. Cut more threads, and brake and can trued right up, would agree with pulling bolt and looking down barrel as a baffle will show up pretty quickly if not trued. These are typically used to prevent the thread protector from walking off. I had a 9mm end cap for it and I was using Griffin Armaments Cam-Lok barrel adaptor and piston so I can more easily switch it between my Sig 1911 and my Shadow Systems MR920. Jul 21, 2021 · Shooting subsonic rounds especially heavy for caliber 147gr to 158gr projos through a ported SD barrel will slow them even further, possibly substantially enough that it becomes possible to have a baffle strike. If you wanna shoot subs in standard non SD mp5 with your can then thats not an issue at all. Adding baffles causes air to strike the surfaces and become diverted, further slowing down the air exiting the muzzle, baffles also create some turbulence, and turbulence creates resistance (like a plane flying through turbulent air or cross wind getting knocked around, same would apply to air mass in flight). ...The pictures below show the damage. There are no nicks or differences in carbon fouling/shiny spots that I can find on the baffles. I put the Sandman S(with Ebrake) back on and checked concentricity visually looking down the barrel and with a Surefire Alignment rod.

2) Push the old baffle stack out of the tube. 3) Push in the new baffle stack. 4) Re-weld the tube to the baffle stack. 5) Re-finish the tube. We compared the repaired Saker 762 to our other two non-repaired Saker 762s and found the repaired can was around 1/16" shorter, probably due to removing a little extra tube material to cut the weld.
