The SD card has good transfer rates if you bought a decent spec likely 120 MB/s read and write - but it gets hot fast and throttles transfer rates and really just gets worse as it heats up. It will plateau to a point, but not to somewhere I would get anywhere near ideal performance running the OS and game software itself on an SD card.
