Assuming the '16 is the same, a little lint in the lever gate is all it takes to prevent the lever from going all the way into position to trigger the switch. Or, it could be a flaky switch or solenoid. Try gently wiggling the lever in park and in neutral. Mar 8, 2015 · All you need to do is feel around the bottom of the clip for a very irritating to reach push in tab and then the wire plug will come out. Once out, I was able to remove the key. This does disable the key in ignition display message and chime, but I haven't noticed any other ill side effects.
