I drilled holes in the top of the 2x6's. The 2x4's just drop into place in the aformentioned holes and are held by gravity/friction.

I made mine to be close to the width of my flipover. I use the bungee cords to cross over the top and attach to the uprights. Going to build a Smitty Sled Pro (top pic) for the Frabill only modify the design so it goes straight up/down and still fit the back of sons 1500 Ram.

An advantage of this design is that a lot of its stability is because (a) the sled is resting on the flat bottoms of the legs when it's high, and on the flat sides of the legs when it's low, and (b) the wide legs are bolted against the sides of the box, which stabilizes the legs against side-to-side wobbling.
