You can get plenty of Shards, and Totems by baragging Dust Devils, Abby Demons, Nechs, etc. rev caves is the fastest place but you have the risk of being in wildy otherwise chasm of fire.

Abyssal demons are best. Capsarius (if you plan to go for ascensions) also gives a fair amount of pure essence and is the second best option. Could get ~15k pure ess from temple trek grind if you plan to do that for diary. Other rewards from there may interest you more although I chose ess.
