Alloy armor (like on bombards) does not have a corrosive weakness. So you will kill these enemies slower when using corrosive. People like viral & slash because it skips the armor in the calculation. In the end, against ferrite armor viral & slash will perform about the same as corrosive (maybe a little bit worse).
