By using the 1/16 punch, it was mushrooming it back out. If you use something a little smaller as a punch, you'll be fine. It's definitely worth it on the the SC. Feels so much better. You have to remove the slide release as it's bar runs through the trigger. Just use a small finishing nail to push the pin up from the bottom. The pin is solid with a cupped end at the bottom and the cup needs to compress and a punch doesn't allow it but a pointy nail will. Yes, Canik Claus is correct. I have the TP9 DA, as well as the Elite Combat and Elite SC. The DA is a true DA/SA gun, similar to many hammer fired weapons like your sig p226. . Its basically a Walther P99 clone, but alot less expensive, yet just as good. The MC9 is sized between the regular 365 and 365XL. Compared specifically to the 365X, the MC9 is heavier, has a shorter grip, and doesn't have tritium sights. It really depends. The rival has all the best parts of any canik, so if you're looking at the METE sfx, I would just get the rival. The SFX models are all of caniks Competition guns and since the rival is the best of the best, you can cut out the middle man of the METE sfx and go straight for the Rival.
