Hk vp9 vs p30.

I have held a VP9 at DSI and LOVED IT how it felt, but not a P30. Anyone own a P30 in 9mm? Like it? Ever compare it to a VP9?The felt recoil is really negligible. But the P30L has less felt recoil than my VP9. But this is all very subjective. Hope this helps. As others have said, barrell length does make a difference. There may be some advantages if that is the case. For example, in USPSA if you want to shoot production major (which I believe the P30L would be classified as) you would need to shoot the .40 caliber if you wanted to use factory ammo. If you were cool with shooting production minor, the 9mm is a better choice, I believe.

The only one that was a let-down was the HK VP9. It did not feel as high in quality as the P30 and other HK pistols. Both are excellent all around guns. The ergonomics of the guns is a key difference. The USP does better in bigger hands as it has a more "squared" shape to the grip. Both platforms are incredibly durable and reliable. I won't comment of differences in triggers since all my USPs are SA/DA and my P30L is LEM.

But Walther is mainly known for their current striker fired pistol lineup(P99, PPQ, PDP), and HK is known for their hammer fired P30 and USP, but also make a good striker fired VP9. Don't forget that HK started off the whole striker fired polymer pistol with the VP70 and their amazing P7, which some consider the best striker fired pistol ever.Then if possible you should try the VP9 first to see if you like it at least as much.
