Avoid combat and wait till the map is empty and there's 10 minutes left, and a scav with a gzhel will probably spawn. I've recorded 7/13 times that I've done this, I walk out with a gzhel. There's also an almost guaranteed pilgrim backpack spawn; the scavs spawning at this time seem to be better armed and have sharpened reflexes, so be warned.

GZhel is second for similar reasons, but just being slightly worse than the Gen4 HMK when protecting against slightly higher pen rounds.
Both are made out of the best material in the game and have tons of slots, and have better movement penalties than either the GZHEL or the Korund. If you can manage to get a killa armor, it's the best level 5 overall, but it's very rare. Gzhel is better but is only good for 1 (maybe 2) repairs.

The gzhel barter has always been Ragman ll3. Gzhel's are not incredibly uncommon on boss guards, scavs, and in stashes, and you only get the quest at level 25, so a 7 level wait time maximum.
