Jun 4, 2018 · The Ballistic Advantage SPR profile barrel has revealed it loves it some heavy match bullets. As a baseline, we know that with the right load, the BA can shoot lights out. Buying some FGMM and hitting the range basically gave me a turnkey 600-700 yard Recce style carbine.

Faxon makes really good barrels as well though so either will do fine. I have both BA 8.3" Hanson and Faxon 9" gunner, just pick the one that correctly on sale, there is no difference. Whichever barrel has the features you want at the price you can afford, as both Ballistic Advantage and Faxon make great barrels for the price.

Seems to shoot about 1moa or a little less with about anything. Haven't tried any handloads or even good match ammo, and I only have a 1-4 optic on it, but I'm very happy with it thus far. Faxon is not a good barrel company IMO. Granted it's a sample size of 2 but still both bad barrels. I like criterion as a first choice these days and my daniel defense barrels have always been accurate and long lasting. Wouldn't hesitate to buy a barrel that fits your needs from either 1:8 twist on everything for me.

I do own a Ballistic Advantage 13.7 barrel with a carbine length system that is my most accurate AR to date. I also had for a while their 13.7 mid-length barrel.
