IMHO, the attuned ectoplasmator is only ever useful if you want prayer points for soul split. Doing it just for the exp I'd rather waste 2 inventory slots in urns and wear something to boost dps or have some lifesteal in the pocket slot. It's unlikely you would need those 2 slots that baddly anywhere that has ashes as drops.
