I just did a little research and it looks like other than Sand Reaper Queen the Greater Bear is likely the best overall pet to have. The bear is easy to breed, has a base health of 4.5k (lvl 0)and at level 20 has an armor rating very close to Silent Legion (900+ with a few agility points).
