Dot 5 which is silicone brake fluid will not mix with water. Water will sit separate and rust things. So if your rig sits outside and condensation forms from temp change, you need to bleed the system more often. Dot 5 is more expensive, but not in my mind with $1200.00 a gallon show paint. I've actually seen a guy use brake fluid to strip paint.I found in my archive on my mac this very interesting picture about the bottom of the body of one CJ2A VEC of 1946. It probably don't have anything to do with the fuel pump since the jeep was running alright. Be sure you have good inline fuel filters, I run one before the fuel pump. I am new to this forum. I have acquired a 1946 cj2a from a family member this year. I have been trying to get it going over the past few weeks. It has sat for the last 10+ years. I emptied the gas, changed filters, changed oil etc. I knew it had a transmission problem with the clutch. The release lever/ control cable had come off.
