When they added the golem jewels they received by far the biggest buff. It kinda goes with elemental damage in the game, fire seems the strongest. The main reason is that chaos golem's aoe seems to have been heavily nerfed in the current version of the game and it is really clunky to use for map clearing.
With Ele you get huge stacking of the Golem's buff effect on you. With Necro you get very different stuff like Offerings and Corpse interactions.
