I've farmed quite a bit for couch potatoes, IDK what other people's strategies are but personally I got some of mine from overnight AFK farming troubled warriors (getting like 4-10 in an 8 hour stretch) and some from overnight AFKing prickly cactus in Caravan with life immunity on a death, which was significantly better rates.

You only need to check in on them three times for every stage and then for elder harvest. Look up the wiki and it will show how long each stage takes and then you can calculate from there using the “likes” you have near them.
