I was reading the owners manual last night for my new '97 K2500 regular cab with L65 motor, 5-speed transmission and 3.73 rear axle and the manual makes a couple of disturbing statements. First, it ssays don't use 5th gear when towing. I am hoping that is refering to gas engines since 5th gear is 2,000 rpm at 65 mph.NV4500's are a finicky transmission to begin with I personally won't take chances with any oil other than the OEM oil even if it does cost a few bucks more per quart. I agree with the part numbers Ryanroo posted. I do like the idea of added capacity though. Posted July 19, 2017 (edited) Dealer fluid is roughly 25 to 28 dollar a quart. Making it $100 to $112 dollars a gallon. 50W Transmission Fluid $139 for 5 gallons. Making it $27 a gallon or $6.80 quart... I say skip the dealer lube it no longer manufactured what is left on the shelf is going for high prices.

Re: Just got an NV4500, can't find the oil I just called a parts supplier, and they said the GM 12346190 supersedes to AC-Delco 10-4059, and then that Supersedes to AC-Delco 10-4119. So with that info, the oil at Summit racing is correct.
