Lateral movements make enemies really hard to hit with hydra. I maxed frozen orb, with about 8 points into cold mastery (you can put more, was just banking on more +skills). No additional points into frozen orb synergy are needed imo. For lightning I got static for cold/fire immunes and energy shield.
