The issue with the KP9 is the shorter-than-normal receiver. Because of that, the normal front latch for a folding AK is useless. There's only a small number of things that will latched closed using the existing 5.5mm hinge pin. The one on the kp9 is a midwest industries, I got it off a buddy and only paid $40 just to throw it on and see if it works. It does not fit well on it at all and has some wiggle room. On top of that I can't lock the stock folded, the rail is in the way. So I'm getting a Zenitco B21M handguard and that should solve my issues

The lower part of the handguard required a little finesse from a hammer to get it fitted so that is pretty solid. The upper mounts to the lower with four screws which if I use some loctite should be a pretty solid setup imo.
