The Eastbound rest area is by far the best rest area between Statesville and Winston Salem on I40. The Westbound area is OK but I prefer the southiness of Eastbound. Unlike the sprawling grounds common to the Central States this rest area is almost cozy nestled in the lightly wooded countryside.
