it seems that the keyboard has non-addressable led's. In other words there is no chip to control the lights with. Either it's getting power=>the lights turn on, or the keyboard is not getting power=>The lights stay off. It came with a pretty cheap ibuypower pc anyway so im not too worried. It'll do for now.
