Eder can be really great tank, if build properly, and he's great companion overall. Grieving Mother feels REALLY important to the story and lore (not sure how much) and enigmatics are great anyway. So first, note that aloth and Eder have alignment hooks that change depending in their PoE 1 history. So the first thing you want to know is if aloth is pro or anti leden key, secrets, responsibility, etc. He may or may not be. Base PER 16 is high enough and give +6 spell Accuracy. Base INT 16 is high enough to increase the duration of various spells. Even base MIG 12 gives a bonus to damage.
